Surgical Services

We provide most surgical services at our Istanbul Clinic including routine spays and neuters, soft-tissue surgeries and orthopedic surgeries. Occasionally, we refer our patients to specialists  to perform complex operations.

Anesthesia and Patient Monitoring

We only use gas anesthesia in our surgeries and utilize the safest available anaesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients. Often the more expensive anesthetics are safer to use, which is why our Istanbul hospital uses Isoflurane gas anesthetic to maintain surgical anesthesia. Anesthetics are also chosen for other reasons including their ability to control pain. Anesthesia and patient monitoring varies greatly among clinics.Using the most modern equipment, the patient’s vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. We will determine the best anesthetic protocol for your pet before the surgical procedure (s) by evaluating the pre-surgical blood test results and physical exam.

When you choose your veterinarian, be sure to question the types of anesthetics used and the protocols for monitoring anesthesia.

Pain Management and Control

We know the issue of pain management is of great concern to pet owners today. As in human medicine, we have a variety of medications available to manage your pet’s pain both before and after surgery and in the event of trauma. The veterinarians at our Istanbul hospital would be pleased to discuss the options available to you and your pet under any of the above circumstances.

Bird and Exotic Pet Surgery

The veterinarians at our Istanbul hospital do all avian and exotic animal surgeries both routine and complex.

If surgery is needed, the veterinarian will discuss the procedure with you, addressing any concerns or questions you may have.  An estimate will be provided at the time of the examination and any options will be discussed.  Once you are comfortable with the surgery, it can be booked and any additional needed procedures or tests can be done.  Different surgical procedures require different recovery times, and your pet may need to remain hospitalized for the recovery period.  If this is needed, our veterinarians will inform you at the time of the examination. Rest assured, your avians and exotics are in good hands!!
